| United Way is advancing the common good by targeting Education, Income & Health. These are the building blocks for a good life - a quality education that leads to a good job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health along with healthy relationships. When people do not have the basic building blocks they need for a successful life, it hurts them, their families, and our whole community. Your United Way is focusing on specific issues in our community as they relate to the building blocks. |
Targeted Issues:

Helping working families to achieve greater financial stability and growth |

Major Concerns: |

• Individuals who are unable to increase their job skills. |

- Needing assistance with child care costs. |
| |
- Knowing how to look for (and potentially apply for grants or scholarships) resources to go back to school. |

• Individuals and families not fully understanding how to plan for, and accomplish, their long term financial goals. |

Programs & Activities: |

• Programs that provide financial education on how to best budget the family income. |
| |
• Child care assistance/scholarships while individuals attend school to increase their skills for better jobs. |

• General child care assistance for dual working families. |

Intended Results:

• Individuals/families have the assistance and tools to have a stable and adequate income (a job that can support the family) and an adequate financial resources for emergencies (savings and assets to cover unexpected expenses) |

Providing emergency financial assistance for individuals and families in need |

• Individuals/families not having enough money and resources to meet basic needs on a regular basis. |

• Assisting individuals and families in a financial crisis. |

Programs & Activities: |

• Programs that assist clients as they move into permanent housing (e.g.: Starting Out Right Program). |

• Programs that provide short-term financial assistance to individuals and families in crisis. |

Intended Results: |
| |
• United Way funds contribute to the local network of programs that provide basic, emergency assistance to individuals and families in crisis. |
