- United Way 2010 Grant Process

United Way has made major changes in how we will be awarding funds that we raised from this past fall’s campaign. We no longer have approved United Way Agencies; instead we want to work with local community partners to help create long lasting changes for individuals and families in our community.  United Way is interested in being more pro-active with its funding and thus helping to prevent health and human service problems from happening in the first place.

We refer to our new Community Impact Funding Model as the Building Blocks for a Good Life. Our Building Blocks are:

     • Education – Helping Children and Youth Achieve their Learning Potential
     • Income – Promoting Financial Stability and Independence Across the Life Cycle
     • Health – Improving People’s Lives

United Way believes that if people do not have the successful Building Blocks for a successful life, it hurts them, their families, and the whole community.  We have also established specific Targeted Issues under each Building Block where we plan to focus the majority of our funding for 2010.

Please see details under the Community Impact tab regarding the new funding model, education, income, and health.
