Working to Reduce Poverty
The United Way of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks & Area was established in 1957.
United Way is focusing its efforts on helping people who are living in poverty and working to rise above the poverty level in our community. With your donations, we are helping local organizations to provide a safety net to help people stay in their homes and feed their families. United Way funds also provide books to over 2,500 children every month through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. Having children entering school ready to learn provides them with the fundamentals to achieve a good education. And being equipped with a good education, which can lead to a stable job, is one of the best ways to avoid poverty.
Our Bold Goal:
By 2030, Grand Forks will have the lowest poverty rate among the four major cities in North Dakota (Fargo, Bismarck, Minot, Grand Forks).
United to Positively Transform Lives and Build Strong, Caring Communities.
Be the trusted leader in improving the quality of life in our communities.
Programs & Initiatives:
In addition to partnering with local nonprofit organizations, we also coordinate a few of our own programs - Toys for Tots, Undies Sundays, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, FamilyWize and Wheels for Work.
